I got a partial list of several drams that will be poured at my single malt club in a few weeks. Frankly, I haven't heard of either of these offerings before and would like to know if others have tried them and your comments about them.

Liddesdale 18 Year Old (Adelphi) (70cl, 46%)

Adelphi Distillery Ltd Fascadale Batch 3 Highland Park 12 Years Old

Both are excellent drams. Liddesdale was distilled at Bunnahabhain i believe and is a sherried Bunnahabhain. May not be to everyones taste, quite bitter, sharp dry and a bit of sulpher in there. Full bodied, sherry, honeyed and some spice.

Fascadale is a good expression of Highland Park from american oak casks so a sweet vanilla, lemon, pears, honeyed example of Highland Park

I have had both also, particularly enjoyed the Liddesdale, Adelphi does some pretty good stuff in my experience. 2 very interesting drams for you to taste at your single malt club, enjoy.

Tonight is the tasting and fancy dinner in NIagara-on-the-Lake. As I indicated earlier, I know of 2 of the drams being poured tonight, Liddesdale 18 and Fascadale with the third to be announced at the tasting.
The evening usually goes for3- 4 hours since it has a many course meal and of course the address to the haggis done by a Scottish gent in full scottish dress and also a bagpiper present who sounds the start of the evening. Most of the gentlemen there wear kilts because of their Scottish heritage and it's always a great evening. It makes you feel like you are in Scotland and not Canada. I will report on all the drams and the experience tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Wink

Another i read it but cant remember where. Embarassed

At the moment Liddesdale 18 Year Old is really a 20 year old but they have built in a bit of future proofing.

I wonder if your 3rd dram will also be Adelphi as they do some good stuff.

I had just a great time last night at the scotch tasting and dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake. There was a bit of a change to the drams offered. The following were poured:

Glencadam 10, 46% abv

Glen Grant 16 years

Fascadale 12 years, Batch 3, Adelphi

It was my first experience with the last 2 drams. The Glen Grant 16 was very smooth and enjoyable. The Fascadale underscored Highland Park elements on the palate and finish and had some definite complexity to it.

I do like Glen Grant, a smooth easy to drink Speysider, the 16 and the Majors Reserve would be my choice of the Glen Grant core range.
