Hi all.
In 1990 I was given bottle of Single Malt by a client. The bottle is labled "The Scotch Malt Whisky Society". The lable states the following Information
DATE DISTILLED OCT '73
DATE BOTTLED JULY '86
PROOF STRENGTH 103.8 59.3% vol
PRODUCE OF SCOTLAND . BOTTLED IN LEITH . SCOTLAND
SOCIETY CASK NO. 31.1
Here are some photos of the lable
The bottle is un-opened
I would be grateful for any information that may be available and an approximate value if possible
Dave the Scotch Malt Whisky Society is a independent whisky bottler and members only club who sells its whiskies exclusively to its members. You can read more about the SMWS here:

This is a very early SMWS botting so it may well be worth a few pound, i wouldnt like to misguide you and give you a value but i would suggest contacting someone with a knowledge of the current market prices. There are a few specialist whisky auctions such as:
I would be interesting in hearing what value it may be so if you do sell it and you dont mind letting us know i would love to hear what its value is for future reference.
This is a very early bottling from SMWS and i may be wrong but i would think that this is the first bottling of Jura they released as the bottle code is 31.1 you could try contacting SMWS to verify this.
Difficult to value but as Mark suggests perhaps you should contact a specialist whisky auction who should be able to advise you of a value.
