Hi - im new to Whisky - wondered if anyone can help me ? I have a single malt distilled at The Balvenie Distillery Scotland. Its from a single barrel aged 15 years. Bottled by hand. Cask date 1977. Bottling Date 1994, cask number 315, bottle number 164. Its sealed in fantastic condition and its in a tin/tube. Its been in my cupboard for about ten years ! ! It was my father in laws.
Just wondered if anyone knows much about this and if i should keep it sell it or drink it |

Hi Julie
The Balvenie 15 year old Single Barrel is an excellent whisky and if you enjoy single malt whisky i am sure you will like this.
Sometimes the earlier bottlings of the Balvenie 15 Single Barrel were over the 15 years old stated on the label, this is the case with your bottle which appears to be around 17 years old
Current bottles are price around £50, if you were to sell yours you may fetch a bit more than this as it is aged more than the 15 years and it may appeal to whisky collectors or enthusiasts |

I have seen these go for around £30 - £40 at auction even bottles that are 2 or 3 years over the 15 years but then the taxes and auction fees have to come off which can be approx 20%
It is a great whisky so if you are a whisky drinker open it and enjoy if not then sell it. Sometimes bottles like these can fetch a few pound more on ebay than they fetch at a regular whisky specialist auction just depends on the bidders on the day. |

| If you do decide to sell on ebay highlight the fact that the whisky in the bottle is older than its 15 year old age statement. |
