I was set this question by a friend recently who knows of my love of whisky, I would be interested to know what your top five whiskys would be, with limitations, they must be under £ 50 ($ 80 Euro 60) they must be easy to get hold of, they can be any style.
My list is as follows;
Ardbeg Corryvreckan
Aberlour a'bunadh
Red Breast 12 yr
Talisker 10 yr
Lagavulin 16 yr
It is very difficult to limit yourself to five as I have found listing them here, but give it a try I would be interested in your thoughts.

Interesting question, and no doubt most people's lists would be different if they were asked again at a different time. Right now, my top 5 easily obtainable, under £50 malts would be
Talisker 10
Lagavulin 16
GlenDronach 15 Revival
Actually can't decide on the last two! They'd have to be between Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Ardbeg 10, Glenlivet Nadurra and Balvenie Doublewood. |

Kava you are quite right, on checking my Corryvreckan it was £44.00 Duty Free, I have both and Uigeadail fits the bill perfectly.

Slainte | I thought for a minute i had missed a bargain somewhere. The duty free prices are hard to beat, almost worth getting a cheap ryanair flight somewhere just to stock up. |

I'd say:
Cragganmore 12
Lagavulin 16
The Balvenie Signature 12
Glenfiddich 18
Talisker 57* North (I can't find the degree symbol, hence the *!!)
But this would likely change if you ask me in a couple of weeks (I'm favouring Speysides at the moment). |

IMO these are all outstanding quality and value for money drams
Macallan 12
Glenfarclas 17
Glenfiddich 18
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Balvenie Doublewood
I could probably name a different 5 everyday of the week. |

You have three peated whiskies there which unbalances your list somewhat. Two would be fine, one peat monster and one medium/lightly peated. Therefore my list would be as follows.
Lagavulin 16yo or Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength
Springbank 15yo
Glendronach 18yo
Bunnahabhain 18yo
Balvenie 15yo Single Barrel
Any Bladnoch at 55% |

As others have said this will change almost daily. As I haven't tasted any for a month now, the 5 that I am really glad to have and will be tasting before too long now are
Macallan fine oak 10
Highland Park 12
Glenmorangie Lasanta
Talisker 10
Ardbeg 10 |

Keeping in mind that I'm quite new to the world of Whisky... Here's my top 5 in the category:
Ardbeg Uigedail
Bunnahabhain 12 (if you'll allow another 0.63 pounds I'd take the 18)
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
Highland Park 12
Redbreast 12 YO Single Pot Still Cask Strength
One possible replacement for one of the above (probably the Glenmorangie) would be Bailie Nicol Jarvie. |

I have varied tastes and there are so many core range distillery bottlings under £50 which i could name.
As i said my taste varies but lately i have been very much enjoying the following 5 and TBH it was this site that led me to these bottles
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
Auchentoshan 3 Wood
Glengoyne 17
Glendronach 18
Talisker 57* North (how do you do a degrees symbol ) |

Difficult to pick only 5 but i will go with what i have been drinking lately
Old Pulteney 17
Glenlivet Nadurra
Lagavulin 16
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
Ardbeg 10
As i said these are whiskies that fall into the criteria for the list which i have been drinking lately but i probably could add another 30 to the list. |

Thanks everyone, I am glad to say that all of your choices are whiskies that I have or have tried and enjoyed, I should have made the list 20 choices not 5 but it was interesting to see your replies, once again thank you all.

After much deliberation I did narrow it down to five:
Talisker 10
Lagavulin 16
Glendronach 15 Revival
Glenlivet Nadurra
Balvenie Doublewood
It's hard not to include the Laphroaig Quarter Cask or Ardbeg 10, but there's more variety within my five like this, and the Balvenie Doublewood is probably my favourite easy-drinking, every-day dram. |
