The Laphroaig PX Cask is a travel retail exclusive bottling and the first Laphroaig single malt whisky to be matured in Pedro Xim?nez sherry casks.
It replaces the Laphroaig Triplewood in travel retail and just like the Triplewood the Laphroaig PX Cask has been matured in 3 different casks, the diffence being the PX Cask spent its last 12 months maturing in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Laphroaig PX Cask contains whisky aged between 5 - 10 years and is non-chill filtered and bottled at 48% ABV.
As i said a travel retail exclusive but it will be made available to Friends of Laphroaig members.

| I was a bit disappointed with the Laphroaig Triplewood but i think the Pedro Ximenez cask may make the the PX Cask a more enjoyable dram. £65 is a bit high but i suppose it is a 1 litre bottle |

| The price is disappointing but isnt this the way all prices are going. I do like the sound of a Laphroaig with a Pedro Ximenez influence |

I wasnt so impressed with the Triplewood either, i only had a taste but i couldnt see why it was worth so much more than the 10 year old or Quarter Cask so i did not buy it. I may have been quick to judge it on one taste but i can usually get 2 bottles of Quarter Cask fop what they were asking for the Triplewood and i am more than happy with the Quarter Cask.
The Laphroaig PX Cask does sound good though as i do think Laphroaig can mix well with a good sherry. I will be flying over easter so hopefully they have some at the airport for tasting but i will have to be very impressed to pay the £65 asking price as there are a lot of good whiskies at the airport for that price. |

Keith, if you do have a taste of the PX Cask i wouldnt mind hearing your opinion as the wife will be passing through Stansted world of whiskies later this month and she usually picks up a couple of bottles for me. If i thought this was good i would get her to pick one up for me
Cheers

| Sounds good, it'll be an interesting competitor to the Lagavulin Distillers' Edition. Still, £65 is a bit steep, even if it's 48% ABV. |
