Hello,

I have been looking for a 'stronger' whisky. I am fairly new to whiskies and think I prefer more peaty whiskies (e.g. islay), but I find whisky such as Glenfiddich too thin and dull. It's like drinking sherry.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a stronger, perhaps peaty whisky that is fairly readily available? I was thinking about trying lots of whiskies, but asking seems to be a bit of a shorter, cheaper option!

(I am a student, so <£45 a bottle is preferable...)

Thanks!

If you are looking for a heavily peated whisky then i would recommend Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Lagavulin 16 all 3 will be within your budget and all 3 are outstanding examples of peaty whisky, enjoy

My three choices as well, you will be pleased with any of them, my fav at the moment is the Quarter Cask.

There is also the Laphroaig 10 year old.

Not an Islay whisky but i am sure you would enjoy the Talisker 10 year old

I would go for Bowmore 12. Now, that's peaty!

Thanks all!

I have picked up a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask and two taster bottles of Ardbeg 10 and Lagavulin 16.

Looking forward to tasting them with a film tonight. Smile

(First final exam out of the way...)
