Im new to whisky but im now hooked and get a couple of bottles at a time from the internet every 4 weeks. i usually drink my malts straight but by looking at the %alc/vol im wondering if its best watered down.....thanks in advance for replies......

My advice would be with the first glass try it neat (both nose and taste) then add a drop or 2 of water then nose and taste and repeat until your happy.
Personally with this bottling I found a little water really helps the flavour and nose come out.

Agreed, try it neat first and then add water accordingly. I too found I enjoyed it more with a few drops of water - when it's neat I found the alcohol too overpowering for all the flavours to come out.

I usually have a glass of water (not chilled) and a straw, i use the straw as a dropper by putting it in the glass of water then covering the end with my finger which captures a small drop in the straw, i then drop it into the whisky until i have reduced the alcohol level to a level i enjoy.

One other thing to try which has worked for me (I love this whisky) is leave it to stand for 10/15 mins before tasting and on your first sip and I do mean sip mix in your mouth with your saliva only, another great thing about this whisky is the nose, (remember 60% so take it easy at first) I introduced Batch 36 to a mate of mine the other night and he just sat there nosing it for ages with a big smile on his face, enjoy.
