During a day trip today I picked up 2 scotches I've never tried before but will wait a while before trying them. They are:

-The Peat Monster by Compass Box

-Smokehead bottled by Ian MacLeod

What are they like? All comments appreciated.

Very Happy

Both are great whiskies..

Compass Box Peat Monster isnt as big a monster (peat wise) as the name suggests but still a big peaty rich whisky. It is a mix of Caol Ila and Ardmore aged between 10 years and 15 years old, if you are familiar with these 2 you will recognise there influence in the Peat Monster when you taste it.

Smokehead is a big peaty single malt, my guesses of which distillery it originates from changes every time i taste it but i suspect it comes from Lagavulin or Ardbeg, we will never know. I would be interested to know where you think it originates from.

Enjoy

Quaich1, if you enjoy the Southern Islay distilleries then i am sure you will enjoy Smokehead. For me the Peat Monster was quite earthy and a long smoky finish.

2 very good whiskies my personal preference between the 2 would be the Smokehead, the Smokehead 18 is excellent although not cheap for an un-named distillery
