I was interested in your thoughts regarding how many single malts you feel would make for a proper evening's tasting at home and how you pick them. I usually try 2 different drams but occasionally 3 and try to cleanse the palate after each one. I also try to pick single malts with different features to allow for contrast or balance. Some nights I just try higher end single malts and other times I have one special one and one more common dram. How about you? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I dont drink every night but when i do have time to enjoy a few (usually the weekend) it usually depends on my mood what i drink. Sometimes i stick to just one whisky sometimes a few and other times maybe even 5 or 6 whiskies but pouring smaller measures. When having a few i may start on maybe a lighter Speyside such as Glenlivet, then perhaps a Highland malt such as Dalwhinnie then maybe a Highland Park or Talisker and finishing on a Islay perhaps Lagavulin, Laphroaig or Ardbeg.
I sometimes enjoy comparing different expressions from the same distillery but mainly i would start with something light and work my way up to something peaty or heavily sherried just depending on my mood. No more than 3 or 4 whiskies
