Now that I didn't know! I still haven't tried Amrut but would like to. At work we have a social network and I've tried to engage our Indian colleagues about what the whisky industry is like in India but none respond. I get the impression that the taxes on imports are punitive making Scotch a high-end thing for people with yachts etc. The article mentions the 2,000Rs price for Amrut Fusion, which I make about £23.35 GBP or $36.18 USD so does this make malt whisky more affordable to Indians?

Amrut Fusion sells for $69.00 in Ontario, Canada at the LCBO. However, almost every single malt scotch is more expensive at the LCBO (the only show in town) but such is life.
