I'm going to an exclusive single malt scotch pub in Ontario in 2 weeks. I would like some suggestions as to which of the following rarer drams I should try. Suggest 3 and why you picked them. It's going to cost me a bit of money to try 3 so I would like to choose wisely. Here's some on the menu in no particular order:
Port Ellen 22 yr 1979 CS DB
Glenrothes John Ramsey
Bowmore 30 yr DB
Brora 30 CS DB
Auchroisk 28 yr CS
Glenfiddich 30 yr DB
Ardbeg 32 yr CS Laing
Bruichladdich 35 yr CS Laing
Highland Park 30 G&M
Jura 33 yr CS Laing
Scapa 25 yr CS Laing
Glen Scotia 30 yr CS Laing
Balvenie 25 yr Single Barrel _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Personally i would go for the Port Ellen 22 and Brora 30 as any i have tasted have been excellent and these are rapidily get rarer and will soon be unaffordable so try them while you have the chance. I would also go for the Ardbeg 32 as i love Ardbeg and any older Ardbeg i have tried has been excellent.

Trying to find the blog post but cant quite recall where I read it. Basically it was about buying whisky in pubs. If the level is low and has been sitting for a while the whisky may not be what it should, there was more if I find it I will post a link. Best strike up a bit of banter with the barman and see if he can tell you much about the bottles. If all was well and good personally Glenrothes John Ramsey and if you have never tried Port Ellen or Brora give them a go. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional.
