Whisky Forum - Going to browse single malt scotches at LCBO

Have some free time this afternoon so I'm taking a drive to one of the LCBO outlets here in Ontario that has a Whisky Shop and some of the more interesting single malts. Will let you know what I pick up. Wish me luck.

Well, I ended up with a single malt that's not listed either in Murray's or Jackson's latest whisky books but it was highly recommended by others. It's The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 years old. I added the bottle to my collection. Anybody know anything about it?

I may be wrong but perhaps the Balvenie Caribbean Cask is the the US/Canadian version of the Balvenie 14 year old Golden Cask which was opriginally a travel retail bottle

Balvenie is often bottled at different abvs for different markets, not sure why really. Sadly the UK usually gets the the lower abv bottling when this happens.

There was a Balvenie 14 Cuban Selection a few years ago which was pretty good and i assume if it was ever released in the US it would not have carried the Cuban name tag.
