|
|
There is a spectacle taking place tomorrow, Friday evening. Nik Wallenda will be crossing between USA and Canada on a high wire stretched over Niagara Falls about 15 minutes drive from my house. I will watch this world event on TV but am trying to decide which drams to have as I watch. Hmmm.....What do you suggest, Islay malts or something else? I have a great selection to choose from here in Canada. I passed by there today and there were tv trucks and satellite dishes from everywhere. I think you can also watch along on the internet and choose your own drams. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

A crazy thing to do if you ask me.
As for what to dram while you watch this loon....
Either A) Something equally crazy, cask strength and full of peat
or B) Something somber and relaxed in a ying/yang type way to balance out his daftness, Glenlivet 12 or Glenmo Quinta Ruben |

Actually, it's being done with the full support of the local government and Niagara Parks and his family is world famous for tightrope walking going back generations. There will likely be 100,000 people in the area to watch and the feat is costing over a million dollars to operationalize. He is a professional and is doing something never done before in this fashion. He is a serious performer and is being received that way. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

What a mad thing to try but great entertainment. Wont there be unpredictable air currents over the falls.
As far as what whisky, i would say a big peated Islay such as Laphroaig or Lagavulin |

I would suggest a dram from Scotlands highest distillery Dalwhinnie, 326 metres above sea level, so i think the Dalwhinnie 15 will be appropriate
Enjoy the performance and the whisky and hopefully the only splash of water is if you add any to the whisky. |

| How about Ben Nevis 10 year old which takes its name from Scotlands highest mountain and it really is an excellent whisky. |

Yes, that was done both as per law and also as an opportunity for humor on both parts. When they asked him why he was "crossing over" to Canada, he stated: "To inspire the world". Quite impressive. I had a few god drams to celebrate at home as the event occurred about 10-15 minutes drive from my house. Actually, one can see the mist from the impact of the Falls out the window here. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

My last visit to Niagara Falls was a cold winters night in early January, a few years ago now but the falls looked amazing lit up by a coloured light show. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |
