Had a lunchtime trip to SMWS but eventually declined to purchase anything. The best dram was a 14yo sherried Bowmore but it had the slightest of sulphur hints around the nose and at the end of the finish that (only just) put me off. I could have enjoyed it but for £60 I want more than mere enjoyment!
So, for up to £60 (and there are some good father's day deals around at the moment) can you recommend an alternative? - something big and preferably sherried. A few candidates I'm considering already are Ardbeg Uigeadail, Macallan 15 Fine Oak or Aberlour 18which are all comfortably within budget. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Aberlour a'bunadh
Glendronach 18
Lagavulin DE
Glenfarclas 105
I was also up at Royal Mile whiskies a while ago, they had a Glendronach Tawny Port finish within you price range and also an indi bottling of a Glendronach which was about £65. RMW is possibly a good bet to talk to about this sort of thing, they are always willing to impart their opinion and often have a bottle or 2 open for sampling, even if you don't buy from there they may have some off the wall suggestions. |

| I recently got myself a bottle of the Glendronach 21 year old Parliament it is certainly a big sherried whisky and a very good one, it is a few pound over your budget but worth it i would say. |

I have never been disappointed with Ardbeg Uigeadail or Aberlour a'bunadh when i am in the emood for something big and sherried.
I am putting together an order for TWE and was considering the Signatory Glenlivet 1996 15 year old First Fill Sherry Cask 67678 only £39.25, unfortunately there are no reviews on it. |

Glendronach 18, interesting! I haven't had a bottle of Uigedail for ages (more than 6 years) so currently veering towards that. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."
