Hello malties;-) I'm sat here with a glass of Glenmorangie Astar and a new job contract. So I'm sure I can allow myself something nice to celebrate - question is what?
Am off to Skye on Friday week so perhaps Talisker 18 or a 57 North. Am also driving home close to Speyside and past Glenmorangie so could stop off there. I love Glenmo, have a Quinta Rubin and Original as well as the Astar. Anything else amazing in their range? Signet sounds interesting.... Am enjoying my £17 from Morrisons bottle of Aberlour 12 and quite fancy A'bundh. Any other suggestions? Lagavulin 16 gets mentioned a lot and can get that in Asda. I am open to suggestions, budget is £100ish[/code] |

If you fancy the a'bunadh and haven't tried it yet then you should
It's one of those that even the packaging and bottle is nice to have, but when you crack it open it won't disappoint. Plus if you pass near a Waitrose it's currently on offer there.
It might not be the best whisky you ever taste, but it is certainly A whisky you should taste.
If you go for Glenmorangie, have you tried the Lasanta? |

| The Talisker 18 and Glenmorangie Astar are both superb whiskies. The Glenmorangie Signet is delicious it will take all of you budget to buy but it is a special whisky to celebrate your new contract. In fact all the whiskies that you mention are excellent and worth trying if you havent yet. |

| Just to add, you may find prices better online than at the distillery shops, worth checking it out once you decide what you are going to buy. |

| How about a Lagavulin 12 special release usually around £60, Talisker 57° North around £50, Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX is excellent and i think around £70 now, Glenfarclas 25 year old is excellent and around £90 |

| When I was last on Skye 57 North was £57 which was easily beatable online. Now the price elsewhere has moved up, so unless Diageo have shoved their price up as well that will be competitive. |

Agree with all of Archer's selection, particularly the Lagavlin 12 and Glenmo Sonnalta PX better prices online not at distillery. |

Fill your own bottle at the distillery, not sure which of the three do that but you could phone first.
I am working my way through a Ben Nevis 25 at the moment it's a big sherry monster. £80 at Robbie's Drams with the promotion they are running.
It is top stuff but the 10 year old is poor so give it a miss. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

Also Cairdeas Origin 2012 is out on the 18th direct from Laphroaig. Not sure of price or actually how good it is, but suspect it will be very tasty. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

Seconded! For the budget you mentioned that would probably be my choice. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

If you're in the Speyside area, a fill your own from the cask, cask strength bottling of GlenDronach would be my tip and would cost around £60-£70. Nearly all single cask GlenDronachs are amazing whiskies, and in my opinion considerably superior to both Glenfarclas and Macallan. The closest town to the distillery is Huntly. There is also an excellent whisky shop in Huntly which is run by indie bottlers Duncan Taylor and called Single Malts of Scotland.
Alternatively you could take the excellent tour at Aberlour, at the end of which they give you the opportunity to bottle your own. I think the tour costs £10 which includes five drams, whilst the bottle your own from the cask costs around £60.
Benromach in Forres also do a fill your own at around £40, and is a great little distillery to visit. |

| Have just had the FOL email. So here's the question . Cairdeas for £50 incl postage. Or Talisker 57 North for £57 from the distillery shop on Friday? I like both Laphroaig (especially Quarter Cask) and Talisker. Sadly buying both would probably be unpopular with SWMBO.... |
