| Hi on a recent trip to Islay I tried both ardbeg supernova and laga distillers edition the double distilled one but I went to buy once home and found both have a number of release versions and all are different prices. So are some better than others if so which ones or are they very similar . Thanks |

There will be a slight difference between batches but you can say the same about the Ardbeg 10 and Lagavulin 16 most people would not notice the difference.
Personally i dont think there was a great difference between the ardbeg supernova 2009 and 2010 both were excellent and 2 of the best Ardbegs i have tasted. The main difference now is that the 2009 first release of the Supernova is more expensive as it was a limited release and is much harde to get now.
You may be able to spot the difference more in the different releases of the Lagavulin Distillers Edition as this has been finished in a sherry cask the sherry influence may vary more between releases but i have found every release i have tried to be excellent. |

I agree not much between the 2009 and 2010 Supernova but if forced to pick one i would say 2009 was better by a fraction but i am just splitting hairs both are excellent.
there will always be a slight difference in batches of any whisky but most people wouldnt notice i think unless perhaps trying them head 2 head. |

I liked the the ardbeg supernova 2009 but as others said not much in it, they are both brilliant.
The lagavulin DE releases are are always good, well at least what i have tried but some have been better than others but that is probably down to personal taste/preference. I would take the newer 1994 over the 1991 but others may be different. |
