Afternoon all,
I've not seen one of these threads for a while, so thought I'd start one of my very own!
I have the approximate sum of £150 to spend on Whisky due to a recent drunken trip to the casino which ended rather well.
I'm fairly well gounded in whisky and find enjoyment in many different varieties. So with this extra money that I have, I thought I'd go away from the usual £25 - £60 range that I usually drink in and branch out on something special (relatively spealing).
So any advice, not so much advice on what I would get, we do after all have individual tastes, more advice on what you would pick up, should you have that kind of money lying around.
It could be one bottle, it could be many, just after some inspiration really before I blow my stack. |

A little under budget would be The Macallan 18 Year Old 1993 Sherry Oak (70cl, 43%).
It goes for$250. Canadian here in Ontario but is much more reasonable in Europe. I would suggest 2 drams I had recently, Ardbeg 27 yrs and 32 yrs but you would need a lot more successful trips to the Casino to afford those bottles.

Miight look elsewhere for this bottle eg the 2008 is nearly £40 cheaper out of Robbies Drams, others might be cheaper. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep them coming!
I'm thinking about the following..
The Octomore 4.1
The black arts 3
Tomtain 30 (I was at the Whisky fringe where it won 1st place) |

| Glenfarclas 30 year old is the best 30 year old for your money IMO or I would go for one of the Glenfarclas Family Casks or perhaps a Glendronach Single Cask as already suggested by DavidUK |

Thanks for all the suggestions, it's always interesting to see what people would pick up given the chance. |

Just had my 2nd tasting of this and I have to say it's excellent, very very different but superb, on the nose there is plent of fruit and berries, id say it had been matured in some wine casks though nothing I can find on the web says what it has actually been matured in.
The age is 22 years, and that comes through with a lovely smooth whisky without the addition of water and bottled at 48.7%, plenty again of red fruit on the palate a lvoelyt sweetness which then opens up to a lovely whisky taste but its just a lovely balance. A word on the colour its a deep coclour with a pink hue.
I'm going to end now and enjoy the rest of this 1st class dram. |
