I thought there may be some amateur chefs amongst you and that this may be of interest to you.

Bowmore whisky has teamed up with John Wright, the UK's leading foraging expert, and top chef Gill Meller, both from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage, to launch a series of delicious seafood and dessert recipes to match perfectly with Bowmore whisky.

The Bowmore Whisky recipes include
Bowmore Dry Cured Oak and Peat-Smoked Sirloin and Crispy Gutweed

    Pine-Fired Mussels with Spear-Leaved Orache

Wood-Roasted Lobster and Scallops with Wild Sorrel Sauce

Sea Lettuce, Clam, Potato and Oyster Rostis

And for those with a sweet tooth
Chocolate and Seaweed Pannacotta with Bowmore Butter Shortbread

    Chocolate and Bowmore-Soaked Prune Fondant

You can find the recipes here:

I am partial to a bit of shortbread and sometimes have some alongside a whisky, goes well with a sherried whisky i think. It would be interesting to have shortbread with whisky in it.

I got hooked on a piece of shortbread with a whisky a few years ago when i was handed a piece at a whisky tasting and thought it would simply help soak up the whisky but i thought it went really well with the whisky. Now and again i take the notion for a piece of shortbread with my whisky in the evening. When i think about it i would do this more on a cold winters night, dont know why.

I'll have to try that pairing. I wonder whether it would go better with a peaty malt or a milder one?

No recipes for Scottish tablet, it is years since i have tasted that, delicious Top Malt and it can go well with a whisky when you are in the mood for sugar overload.

Always had a soft spot for tablet, Mrs Mac makes some for me every once and a while as well as shortbread.
