I wouldnt be surprised if the Ardbeg Galileo image is real as Ardbeg seem to use rumors and press leaks as part of there marketing

The latest details. Finally an official confirmation from The Glenmorangie Company...

Available - From 1 September
Location - UK, Europe and selected Asian markets
Price - In UK, GBP69.99 (US$110) per 70cl bottle

The Islay-based distillery will launch Ardbeg Galileo next month to commemorate an experiment earlier this year that saw molecules of Ardbeg travel into space.

Galileo comprises whisky distilled in 1999 and comprises Scotch matured in ex-marsala casks from Sicily and then balanced with first-fill ex-Bourbon casks.

Some marsala wine can be very sugary sweet, i wonder if much of that sweetness will transfer to the Ardbeg whisky, difficult to say if that will be a good thing or not. Looks like the folks at Ardbeg think it is a good thing, in fact they are confident enough to put a £69 price tag on it.

I wonder if this is the first of the experiments Bill was leading to when I did an Ardbeg tasting at the beginning of the year.

I agree it's very unlikely we will see it here in Canada. I certainly would like to try it. On another note, I noticed that ARDBEG UIGEADAIL in Ontario, Canada is now priced at $167.00
Canadian. That seems quite high. I bet it's a lot cheaper in Europe.

I usually pay just under £50 for the Ardbeg Uigeadail which i believe is around $78 CDN, so you are paying double wha we are paying Shocked

Pre order sales went up on a couple of shops today, are they try to sell out before it has been released?

Yea i noticed that The Whisky shop has the Ardbeg Galileo 12 year old listed on there site
Quote:
The Ardbeg Galileo is absolutely stunning! Distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2012 The "heart' is Ardbeg matured in ex-marsala casks from Sicily Balanced with first fill ex- bourbon casks bottled at 49% ABV Non Chill-Filtered.

They are selling it for £69.99 and stock will arrive 1st September, not sure if this will be an inflated Whisky Shop price or if this will be the price everywhere. It doesnt say how limited it is for £69.99

Looks like they are trying to sell out before it is released, well unless the use of the word limited doesnt mean what we would think it would mean. It could be 100,000+ bottles for all we know.

Come on Ardbeg, how limited is the release Question Question Question

It is annoying when distilleries use the word LIMITED but dont tell you how many bottles it is limited to.
