This week, Monday to Wednesday, SMWS are selling drams at the red price band, i.e. £5.60 no matter what the age. I nipped up after lunch and tried a 35 year old Glen Moray however I had to show the bar staff the mail shot as no one had thought to inform them - bit strange!

Gonna pop up later and have a couple more. There are a few Glen Morays at 34, 35 and 39 years, then it drops down to a 27 year old Glenfarclas and plenty other whiskies in the 20s.

Another tidbit - leafing through the bar list I also saw 129.2, i.e. the second cask from Kilchoman. The price band was red so it looks like prices will drop to more sensible levels from the first cask (bottles were sold at £68 IIRC) if and when they are released.

That is good deal, just a bit out of my way to go for a dram.

If I didn't live 3317.10 miles (I like to be precise, ha ha ) from the establishment, I would, as they say" be there with bells on". I wish we had events like that here in Canada. Have a dram for me.

Well, between us, a colleague and I sampled a 27yo Glenfarclas, a 39yo Glen Moray, 27yo and 29yo Linkwoods and the new Kilchoman 4yo, all bourbon casked. We also tried a 20yo Laphroaig and 10yo Port Charlotte, both sherried. All were stunning though my colleague thought the Kilchoman just a little too young and brazen. Some of these drams would normally have retailed for more than £13 so about 60% off!

I'm glad you had such a great time. Reasonable prices for fantastic drams.

It was very nice indeed and will be formally released this Friday as part of the September outturn. However there are only 73 bottles for the UK and it is around £60. That's a lot more than the bourbon casked PCs we've seen lately but not too bad compared to other retail offerings. The Kilchoman will be around £55 which is still a bit cheeky for a 4yo!
