The Angels Share is a new film from Ken Loach which is a comedy heist which has beedubbed the Scotland's answer to the Full Monty

The movie was filmed around Dennistoun in Glasgow and also in Edinburgh and the Highlands as well as in three distilleries you may recognise, look out for Glengoyne, Deanston and Balblair distilleries. Also look out for an appearance by whisky writer Charles Maclean

The Angels' Share will open in the UK on June 1st 2012.

Seriously? He got an honorary degree when I graduated as well! Looks like he's been awarded more than one though... When did you graduate, and from where?

Just watched this on DVD tonight, really enjoyed it. It's pretty brutal in parts and with some choice language so, if you're easily offended, you have been warned! I also thought the trailer played up the laughs and the film is a bit darker than this might suggest though there are some belly-laugh moments and plenty 'banter'.

There is a strong theme of redemption, breaking the mould, etc, that we see with a lot of British dramas which is not very original and it's not a particularly cerebral film but it's well worth the watch. The whisky theme is more of a plot vehicle than anything else but the contrast of housing estates and the rarefied world of premium whisky is a reflection of Scotland's social make-up and maybe not entirely coincidental. 7/10 from me.

I think Tesco Entertainment might be the cheapest option, free delivery and, if you have a Quidco account, you can get 8% cashback making it £8.25:
