Hello all, looking to add a few bottles to my collection, I love peated whiskys but I equally like light and floral, like Glenfiddich 12 and Glenlivet 12.

Any recommendations? Ideally, ones that havn't been matured in ex sherry or wine casks.

All the Glenmorangie Original range are matured in American white oak casks made from their own timber forests in the Ozark mountains of Missouri and having been leased to Heaven Hill or Jack Daniel's. They also have the highest stills in Scotland, which they claim influences the light character. I'm guessing you're familiar with Glenmorangie though?

The Bladnochs I've tried have been quite light and floral to my mind and, of course, Glenkinchie has quite grassy notes and a light character. I have also tried Scapas and Arrans at SMWS that were beautifully light and delicate though I'm not sure if they were characteristic?

I would recommend what i am currently drinking, a An Cnoc 12 year old which is light, floral, fruity, malty. A great quality dram and a regular of mine.

Balblair are knocking out some cracking stuff at the moment.

I also think the Glenlivet Nadurra possibly fits this profile, though is a powerful malt in its own right.

Balbair 2001 sounds nice, got this description from TWE;

Another release for the growing range of Balblair distillery bottlings. This 2001 vintage has been aged for around 10 years, and boasts fresh, clean floral fruit flavours with a touch of citrus & honey. Bottled at 46% without chill-filtration.

Mouthwatering. Razz

Been looking at Nadurra for a while, decisions decisions....

I've only had a couple of small samples of the Balblair stuff, but what I have tried has been 1st calss and all the articles I read about the distillery are very positive.

Oddly enough I was also talking to a barman at the SMWS in Edinburgh a couple of weeks back, he was talking very positivly aobut Glen Moray, and is of the very strong opinion that their younger whisky is now of a very high standard and expects big things from the distillery going forwards.

Lastly, the Nadurra, I've had a bottle of that and I can tell you it was excellent, I picked it up a while ago while it was on offer in Waitrose, it was £37 or £42 I think which was an excellent price, I can't recomend it highly enough.

GDR3k , that's a fantastic price, 28 pouds for Lagavulin 16. Here in Ontario, it's 72 British pounds equivalent. Crazy, eh! Rolling Eyes

That sounds like an amazing offer but it doesn't show on their website for me. Can you send a link if possible?

P.S. Yes, the Glenlivet Nadurra is indeed amazing, but I'm not sure if I'd describe it as 'floral' - it is more intensely fruity, especially with a few drops of water. It's fresh, ripe fruit though, (peaches, apples, along these lines really) not the dried variety or red fruit that you get from sherried malts.
