Hi I got given a bottle of Tartan Prince special blend, with Halewood Vintners Ltd, Robertown, WF15 7LL on the label, I know it's only a house bottle blend but can't find much info. Does anyone know when they stopped bottling this, or have any other info I'd appreciate the help.[/img]

Tartan Prince blend was bottled by Halewood International Ltd an English company based in Huyton near Liverpool. They were mainly an importer of wine but also had spirits in their range.

They had a couple of Bourbons - Kentucky Gold and Canadian Gold. They also had 5 Scotch blends - Charly Richards, Highland Gold, Highland Poacher, Highland Prince and Tartan Prince.

Not sure when they stopped making these. Today Halewood is reponsible for brands such as Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer. They have a web site but i cant see any mention of their old whisky brands, perhaps you could try contacting them.

The bottle size and alcohol strength (% proof or % ABV) can be a clue to aging your bottle.

It's barcoded and standard 70cl 40%, it's just not a brand I'd heard of before and someone at work after I mentioned liking whisky gifted it to me. He said he'd had it for 15 years possibly more. Next step is to see wether it's hot toddy fodder or better.
