|
|
Well, folks I've recently returned from my 2nd trip to Toronto to experience some rarer single malt drams at The Feather's Pub. We were a little delayed in our departure but got there in time to have 2 large pours instead of more smaller ones. I ended up having:
Port Ellen 22 Year Old 1978 Bottled in 2000, bottle # 9389, Rare Malts Collection with a whopping 60.5%abv
Highland Park 30 Year Old The Macphail's Collection, 43%abv.
I was delighted with both drams and will provide my tasting notes on the weekend. However, let me say that the Port Ellen was quite divine and was like being at the amusement park, going on aroma and flavor rides from start to finish. The HP30, G&M was even beyond what I expected. This is one classy dram and no doubt the finest HP I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. One of the Port Ellen's I had on my list was sold out so I selected the one described here.
We had a great lunch there afterwards and finally made it home as it was getting dark.
I can't wait for trip #3. I also looked at a 100 or so of their rarer malts on display and let me tell you there are some beauties there. I believe they have over 400 selections of single malts in total from Scotland.
Tune in to my tasting notes on the weekend. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Sounds like it was a great day out, and sounds like a fantastic selection of whisky at the Feathers. I have had a few Port Ellens over the years and it is superb dram.
I have had both the Highland Park 30 MacPhails and distillery bottling both are superb, if you get the chance to taste the distillery bottling i would highly recommend it. |

You're very welcome. My tasting notes for both drams are in the Tasting Note portion of the forum if you would like to take a gander. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
