I couldn't resist mentioning this product from my Province of Ontario offered at the LCBO. A peat smoked scotch ale. Leave it to us Canadians to "Scotch-i-fy and "peat-i-fy" ale". If it has any semblance to a single malt, I'm in....

I took a drive today to Niagara Falls, the closest LCBO outlet that features this product.
I am very impressed with it and I felt compelled to provide my taste notes from my first tasting today. The bottle is 650ml, quite sizable.
Nose:
Sweet malt, fresh coal essences, pleasant peatiness, earthy with sponge candy almost taffy notes.
Palate:
Creamy, peat, cotton balls with a layer of smoke, initally light tasting and then intensifying, candy apple with building hints of freshly laid tar, black licorice and over-ripe but scrumptuous dark plums.
Finish:
Lasting, peat, smoke, licorice with a hint of brittle and the creaminess goes on and on.
***A strong ale with interesting complexity building on the palate and yielding a memorable finish. It takes one on a magic carpet ride of satisfaction.
