Anyone tried this one?

The Friends of Laphroaig sent me an email wishing me happy birthday, I mustn't have completed my profile details! However they offered a code for an extra 10% off and it brings the CS 004 release down to £38.49, delivered, which seems good! I'm very tempted but I can't find many reviews or opinions.

Well, I hope it's good as I thought 'what the hell' and bought it anyway. The series as a whole seems to have been fairly popular and well received. I know some (albo included) regard the regular 40% 10yo as a little insipid. I don't include myself in that but it will be interesting to enjoy the regular Laphroaig expression at full throttle (I've had SMWS bottles but they tend to be idiosyncratic).

I have had batch 1 and 2 since Laphroaig started putting batch numbers on there 10 year old cask strength bottling and both were superb IMO, so i wouldnt hesitate to try batch 4 especially if getting a good deal on it, enjoy.

I just think the normal Lap 10 is washed out and am of the firm opinion that it would benifit from a higher alcohol content. The 10yr old CS will tell me if my opinion is correct or not. To be fair I don't think it even needs to be CS, botteled at 46% abv would, I beleive, make for a much better consumer experience. Exclamation
