Has any UK members tried the new Macallan Gold yet, if so what do you think of it
There appears to be a lack of info and reviews on it, i just wondered what it was like.
I am not even sure if it is heading to this side of the water, there seems to be quite poor communication from The Macallan about this whisky and the other new Macallans that are to follow which i believe are the Macallan Amber, Sienna and Ruby.
Cheers

| Tried it at Drambusters Whisky festival last Saturday. Packaging is lovely, product OK but nothing outstanding. It's supposed to be 100% Sherry and was looking for the smooth fruity taste of the old 10 yr old. Well its very light, for a sherry casked item and I suspect that a lot of the mix is under 10 yrs old. Don't get me wrong it's still great but I was underwhelmed. When I followed it with a sample of std Glen Rothes it became apparent just how much has actually changed. It's far more akin to the Fine Oak range than the previous sherry casked 10 yr old, so I'm sorry but I think a lot of fans will be waiting to see what the next offering (Sienna etc)will be like and giving this a miss. That seemed to also be the general consensus of many others, who were sampling it when I was at the stand. |
