Hi all
You have all probably noticed an increase in spam posts on the forum recently, apologies for this. John and I are usually able to keep on top of this but it had gotten so bad I was forced to block any new member registrations since Thursday last week. I was hoping this would put off the spammers registrations/posts but I enabled registrations again today and anyone who was online today probably noticed this resulted in a lot of spam posts.
Up until now I have been quite successful in preventing automated spam but these new spammers are registering personally so they are able to get past any hurdle which any automated spamming program cant. The spam is originating from China and Russia.
I am currently working on a solution but until then my apologies for the spam posts and i would ask you just to ignore it if you see any and i will get to it and delete it.
Thanks

| William no need for an apology. I had noticed an increase in spam over the last couple of weeks which was unusual on here. I have seen other forums being overrun with spammers, they are a pain in the a**e and the plague of the internet. I realy dont know what the spammers get out of it, i wouldnt dream of clicking on one of there links. |

I wasn't on yesterday so didn't see any problems, however, I know how much of a pain spammers are.
If you need any mods to mop up this sort of thing, I'm happy to help out. |

And I still have a couple of things to alter in the new member registration process which should hopefully stop the spammers and not inconvenience genuine new member registrations. Persistent spammers will always find a way through though no matter what I do but there shouldn't be too many of them. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

I never liked china or Russia.
But William...come on man! If you spent less time lounging around in your smoking jacket with Bond style girls on your chaise lounge this wouldnt be happening.
And dont waste single malt on them.....they wont appreciate it! |
