I bought the 30yr blended whisky from Aldi last night, as an xmas present to myself from my wife Smile

It will be getting cracked open on Christmas day at the in-laws, I might even share some.

Price was £49.99 and it has some good reviews, I hope it is a good one.

Cheers

I've probably missed the boat anyway and there isn't an Aldi local to me but I'll check it out if I'm passing one. I thought it might be like last year's 40yo debacle with folk queueing up from 5am but perhaps there's not as much opportunity for those wanting to turn a quick buck with this one.

Meant to be around 60 bottles per store(Scotland only) and limited to one bottle per person.
They only have one empty tube on display in the store and you take this to the check out.
I think you will be able to buy one with no queue.

I saw this in Aldi, it was called Glen Orrin 30 year old and they also had a 5 year old version. I was a bit unsure of it as you can get some nice single malts for £50. I think i will wait to hear some reviews as i dont think it will sell out fast at £50 fpor a blended whisky even though it is 30 years old.

see below for what Jim Murray thinks.
I like a decent blend, makes a change from a single malt, I'll be opening mine on xmas so I'll let you know my thoughts.

The Daily Record did have a £5 voucher off at Aldi if this helps anyone.

"And the liquid has already had the thumbs up from whisky connoisseur and author of the respected annual Whisky Bible - Jim Murray. He comments: "This is a clean, charming blend from the old school of whisky. The grains have made a first-class job of drawing out the most lively vanillas and, when fully warmed in the hand, the delightfully sharp marmalade is at its zenith.

"A light barley frame ensures that drier oak, patiently sculpted over three decades, is seen to its fullest advantage on the finish. Top notch Scotch where subtlety is the watchword, delicacy and understatement the key; yet with enough life and juiciness to entertain even the most fatigued taste buds. Truly outstanding."?
