My first taste notes for Tomintoul 21 Year Old

Here are my taste notes from today for this special dram:

Neat-

Nose: Lying in a bed of cherry blossoms, a melange of honey and fruit cocktail, spicy purple plum flesh, rum and raisin ice cream on steroids, grapefruit sprinkled with icing sugar, hints of honey-citrus and lemon-oak in a field of chrysanthemums, vanilla-infused honey and caramelized salt water taffy.

Palate: Oak tannins with honey in a kind embrace, spicy, berry fruit, mint, very smooth, black licorice, mouth filling, anise, light pepper, leather and spicy oak notes.

Finish: Long, black licorice infused with old oak, syrupy, stewed berry fruit, reminiscent of VSOP Pinot Noire beamed unexpectedly into a matue Tomintoul on the finish and the "nose" never knew it until it happened and was more than delighted when it did. Where it came from no one knows and frankly it doesn't matter because it works.

This is a rather complex dram which takes one on a magic carpet ride of aromas and flavors, full of surprises along the way but always balanced especially with the "fireworks" at the end.
