Just wandered what everybody is going to be dramming on Burns night this year?

Are you digging something special out?

I will probably have a few as Burns night falls on a Friday this year, i will see what i am in the mood for on the night. I have always enjoyed reading Robert Burns poetry.

I do have an Isle of Arran, Official Bottle of Robbie Burns Single Malt Scotch that I was thinking of opening then.

I visited Burns cottage in Alloway a few years back, you can see the Isle of Arran from the Ayrshire coast so i would say Arran is a good choice of whiskies to toast Burns.

Innes, I had to run that one through my 2001 HAL 9000 computer language translator. The response to the question was:: "Dave, it means 'turnip and potato'.

Laughing I hope you got the 2001 A Space Odyssey connection..... Laughing Laughing Laughing

We're supposed to be moving out of our house on Friday. I say 'supposed to' because the missives are still incomplete! Needless to say the stress levels are sky high. If all goes well I shall certainly be relaxing that evening with something special, perhaps HP18 or SMWS 29.121.

Good luck to you with all that. Sounds like you have your hands full right now.

I think Compass Box Spice Tree or Talisker go well with haggis.

Thanks, Murray. As the baird himself says, "The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men, gang aft agley", but it's only at times like this you really fear it! I'm confident everything will work out though.

I have to say i do like a bit of haggis and Burns night is a good excuse to have it, my wife orders some from the local butchers especially. It was only through my taste for whisky that i became aware of Burns night, i have attended a couple of Burns night dinners in the past and it was these nights that gave me my taste for haggis.

Kenny, Talisker iis a good choice alongside the haggis.

    Tae make ye think
When ye next tak a drink...

Here is a video of Bryan McCormack reading Tam o' Shanter, you will find the video near the bottom of this page:

I just realised I'm away on Friday night at a hotel near St Andrews, looking at the website, they have over 100 malts at the bar, so I'm sure I'll find something Smile
