C is for... Cutty Sark!
In recent years, the great and the good of the whisky world have looked to redress the imbalance between the sacrosanct Single Malt and its oft overlooked cousin, The Blended Whisky. The latest luminaries to champion the blend are our good friends Joel Harrison & Neil Ridley from Caskstrength.net as they continue their brilliantly ambitious A-Z of whisk(e)y.
Available exclusively from Master of Malt, 'C' is for Cutty Sark! With the help of Master Blender Kirsteen Campbell, Joel & Neil have created their own limited edition version of this iconic blend. Bottled at 51.4 % (UK 90 Proof), this release neatly fits in with the 90th anniversary of the Cutty Sark brand. Move quickly though, mateys, as this delicious whisky may not be in port for too long...
Above is the PR stuff from Master of Malt, retailing at £34.95 which seems pretty reasonable!! Ordered a couple of bottles, will let you know if its reasonable!! Link below

| My wee sample of it should be arriving soon. Have heard the previous Cask Strength bottlings were good? |

Got my 2 bottles last week and had a wee dram last night.
Tried some neat and to be honest I found it too harsh. I would find it hard to recommend this over the standard Cutty sark.
Popped some in with some coke and was fine. I am by no way shame or form of the opinion that a blend is a lesser dram than a single malt but considering you can get a 12 year old classic branded bottle of single malt or Johnnie Walker Black Label for the same price I won't be getting another bottle.
So to summarise in my humble opinion the limited edition is fine with coke but I personally didn't enjoy it neat at all. |
