|
|
I got an email to tell me that the first Clan Speyburn members only bottling woll go on sale at 9am on Monday the 25th February. It is a Speyburn Clan Cask 1975 37 year old and will be priced at £230 and only one bottle per member.
It was matured in a Spanish oak sherry cask from Pedro Domecq, which is the oldest Bodega in Jerez. Apparently it has had some very good reviews from advance tastings.
Just thought i would give it a mention, if you are interested i suggest you get over the the Speyburn website and register to join their clan. |

Thanks Kray,
Way too expensive for me, but probably very interesting 37 years old expression.
I tasted only their 25 yo from regular production (smooth, very enjoyable dram but surprisingly fresh for its age). |

| I have never tried an older Speyburn just the Speyburn Bradan Orach which was ok and the Speyburn 10 year old which was slightly better than the Bradan Orach. The Speyburn 25 has had some very good reviews but i havent had the pleasure. |

I am tempted buying this, as I enjoy sherry Speyside drams.
I have never tried the 25yr but on the website it is around £195.
It seems good value if you compare it to the Jura 1977 £600 |

I tried it last year and it was good stuff although on the night I preferred the 25. I would agree that compared to other bottles the clan cask isn't to badly priced. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

I'm a little bit disappointed - relatively unknown distillery could have gone for something around 60-70 quid like the Laph or Kilch club or Balblair gathering. Instead have gone way up the price ladder ..... _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

| Yes totally agree drPete. £230 for a 37 year old is not over the top in todays market but they could have done a younger whisky for a more drinkable price. |

I agree. I think they should have really sourced an excellent cask of between 18-25years old and therefore sold at a more reasonable price. I would have probably bought if that was the case, but not now. |
