Diageo has announced plans to invest £1.5 million in expanding and enhancing the company's global brand archive in Scotland, which harbours a significant collection of priceless Scotch whisky history materials, alongside archives on other spirits.

The Diageo Archive (at Menstrie, in Clackmannanshire) is the largest collection of its kind in the world, consisting of more than half a million items.

The collection includes documents, advertising material, bottles, books and memorabilia relating to global brands such as Johnnie Walker, Bell's, Smirnoff, Gordon's and Tanqueray.

It contains material on more than 1500 brands, 200 Production Sites and 150 markets and includes more than 10,000 bottles and 12,000 adverts, all of which record the evolution of the brands - representing an investment in the past as well as the future.

William, this is very interesting to me as I am in many respects a student of history so this archive would be quite fascinating to peruse. I enjoy these news stories that you post regularly. Thanks.

This one was hot off the press Murray, Diageo only sent me the story a couple of hours ago. I would love to have a look around Diageos archive myself.

I was lucky enough to have a look around the Diageo Archive a couple of years ago.
I mainly looked at the JW bottles/miniatures as this is what I collected at the time, it was the holy grail for me seeing all the rare bottles, pictures and old letters from the John Walker days, they even had a snake in a bottle although I can't remember the story of that one.

Actually, back in 1981 while vacationing in Japan I was in a grocery type establishment with bottles each containing a snake on display on a top shelf. Though I never did ask exactly what the brew was in the bottles, I always thought it was some type of alcoholic beverage. I clearly passed on that stuff. I tend to keep away from consuming anything that is looking back at me.

When I was but a lad, I used to get smashed on Snake Bite and black.

Not sure what I'm adding to the topic right now but meh!
