The International Order of the Companions of the Quaich met last night for our dinner and tasting. I was asked to carry out the Haggis behind the piper, a first for me. The funny part was that our Passover holiday finished last night so I had my first taste of bread in a week and though I carried the haggis, I couldn't eat it as it is not considered kosher. However, they wanted to give me the honor of carrying it out and of course I got an extra dram for so doing.
The drams were:
Benriach 12 Year- Sherry, 46%abv
Arran Single Cask, 55.1%, only 318 bottles
Glencoyne 12 Year non-peated
My taste notes from last night are now posted on the Forum in the appropriate section. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

That's a shame. Some people couldn't even contemplate haggis but I quite enjoy it myself. I don't know how easy it is to get in Canada but the vegetarian haggis is pretty passable (MacSweens is one brand I know) and probably kosher:

Sounds like a good evening anyway! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Hi William, I would have to say the star of the evening was the Arran Single Cask, 55.1%, 318 bottles world-wide. They had 6 extra numbered bottles which they put up for sale but some folks beat me to the punch. There were about 50 people there. The menu for the evening was excellent so I thought folks might like to see it:
STARTER
Potato & Leek Soup with Crispy Onions & Smoked Paprika Oil
Or
Organic Greens
With Carrot, Red Onion, Goat Cheese & Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette
MAIN
Old Winery Fish'n Chips
Beer Battered Haddock, Fresh Cut Fries, Lemon Dill Yogurt & Caper Gremolata
Or
Tuscan Braised Veal
With Sage Roasted Potatoes, Heirloom Carrots & Pearl Onions
DESSERT
Honey Roasted Apple Crumble
With Vanilla Ice Cream & Caramel Sauce
I'll also look into the kosher haggis. Thanks _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
