I recently bought an old whisky which came in a satin-lined leatherette box.
The bottle\'s perfect in every way, as is the exterior of the box.
The problem is that the cream-coloured satin lining of the box (whilst dry) reaks of old mould/mildew and is spotted.
Is it best to just \'chuck\' the box, or does anyone have any solutions please? Obviously, I can\'t use very much liquid, as I\'ll knacker the leatherette |

I did come across a brief article for removing mildew and mold from satin. No guarantees but it's been used successfully. Here it is:
"If you are willing to risk treating it yourself, I would use a solution of one part hydrogen peroxide to one part water. Working from the wrong side of the fabric (if possible), use a cotton swab to dab the solution on the mildew stains. Do not rub and do not saturate the area with the solution. Keep the wet area small. Blot up the solution with a clean white cloth. Repeat until no more color is transferred to the clean cloth. Allow to air dry".

| If Quaich1's tip doesnt work you could try carefully removing the satin lining which is probably fixied in by glue, then you could try hand washing it ten drying it and fixing it back in. |

| Mold is very persisting. I suggest you to use drastic methods. I would tear/cut off satin, clean all box with distilled water and dry it well on the sun. |
