I posted a while back about thinking about buying from EU to UK because of savings, finally bit the bullet although in the end it was for bottles we wanted(3 people) rather than price. I thought I would post how its going.
We used jurgenwhiskyhuis and orders a malts of Scotland 33 Caol ila and Caroni Rum 1997/2011 silver seal
(Serge gave it 90)
So far ordered on the 12 the and finally got email today for payment, which I thought was a tad slow but not really a problem.
Paypal was used mainly as a bit of insurance for me. It cost 4% extra and a crap exchange rate probably cost another £10 to £15. I wouldn't use PayPal again.
Just twiddling my thumbs waiting now.[/quote] _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

Last night i ordered two bottles of highland park from an italian company called " old whiskey" .info@oldwhisky. It took about one hour before i got a request for payment via paypal from them. I told my wife that i had ordered the bottles, needless to say she cautioned me about ordering stuff from italy. I knew about fakes from italy but all looked ok. Anyway i chickened out, didnt pay, cancelled order etc.
Has anyone had contact with this company and if they had how did it go?
I will feel a mug if any of you come back to tell me the are legit but i was going to spend
About 750 euros hence my nervousness. |

I have to say fakes were a bit of a worry but Jurgen has a pretty good reputation. Don't think I would be brave enough to order from Italy though. Personally I don't see it as any more risk than buying at auction. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |

My order arrived today
Dispatched on Friday and by TNT delivered by Yodel, tracking was provided but it just told me which country it was in.
Packaging was very good in fact a bit over the top.
The time delay was for dispatch was a bit annoying but I have noticed that the rum is on request and the shop isn't open all week which probably explains it.
All in all a very happy chappy although I have to admit I don't feel 100% comfortable not supporting British shops. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |
