I picked up a ticket for this earlier today while i was in Ayr. Robbies Drams popular whisky festival Whisky An' A' That X will take place on:
Saturday 1st June 2013
2pm - 6pm
Ayr Town Hall
This is the Whisky An' A' That 10th anniversary bash, not sure of the line up of exibitors or masterclasses yet but it is always a good one. Tickets are £20 and the price includes 10 sampling vouchers, dram glass, show programme and all the bottled water you can drink.
You can buy tickets via the Robbies Drams webiste robbiesdrams.com (postage is free) or call into the shop. Dont leave it too late as tickets do usually sell out. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| I enjoyed the afternoon and it was good to see you there William. My highlights were a few of the Diageo Special Releases Glen Spey 21, Auchroisk 30, Dalwhinnie 25. The Douglas Laing stall had a good Caol ila but cant remember the details. Benromach 30 excellent as usual. A very nice afternoon. |

I enjoyed the day but it is getting harder to find something interesting which I haven't tried before. I enjoyed visiting the Diageo stall who brought a good selection with them. I missed the Talisker 35 year old as they had run out by the time I got there. The Dalwhinnie 25 was good.
Tried the Kilkerran Work in Progress 5, this is starting to come of age, it is around 9 years old now and I think they are aiming at releasing a 12 year old.
Tried the South Island New Zealand 18 year old from the old Dunedin distillery on New Zealand's South Island, it was a decent American bourbon matured whisky.
Enjoyed my visit to the Douglas Laing stall where there was a good selection of whiskies and as always one of the busiest stalls in the hall. Fred Laing's team as always were very welcoming to all visiting their stall and they know their whisky and directed visitors to something they will like. Had a very nice single grain whisky from Girvan which I suppose you can say is the local distillery to Ayr, it was a Clan Denny Girvan 21 year old. They had a very nice Provenance Glen Keith 15 year old. Then my whisky of the day was a outstanding sherry cask matured Port Ellen which I think Fred said was 27 years old but I cant recall for sure. _________________ There's no bad whisky. I was disappointed Ardbeg werent there with a temp Ardbeg Embassey for the launch of Ardbog.
Enjoyed the Laddie 16 which i hadnt had before, a big sweet vanilla toffe whisky. Benromach 30 was excellent. Had the Arran 16 but i prefer the 14. A nice visit to the Glenfarclas stall which the Glenfarclas 25 was the highlight. Tomatin 30 was excellent. Mackinlays Shackleton also excellent. A nice Caol ila 27 year old from the newly formed Hunter Laing.
William i also tried the Clan Denny Girvan grain 21 year old which went well the the chocolate they had at the stall. They had a nice young Cail ila also. |
