Received an email today announcing the launch of a entirely new Kilchoman range called Loch Gorm. The new Kilchoman Loch Gorm is due on the 8th of April!. Sherry cask matured, bottled at 46% ABV and will be available at RRP of £56/€67/$90. This is a limited release of 10,000 bottles worldwide.
| Quote: | Named after a famously peaty loch at the end of the Kilchoman drive, Loch Gorm will be the only fully ex-sherry cask matured release from Kilchoman. Loch Gorm will be periodically re-released as a more mature version with each bottling differentiated by distillation and bottling years printed on the label.
You may remember last year we released a Sherry Cask bottling in similar packaging but this is now being renamed Loch Gorm for all future fully sherry cask matured releases. This, the first release of Loch Gorm was matured in Oloroso sherry butts for over 5 years and finished in Oloroso sherry hogsheads for six weeks to give added depth of colour and character.
Loch Gorm is bottled at 46% ABV and will be available at RRP of £56/€67/$90. This is a limited release of 10,000 bottles worldwide.
A perfect dram for the ongoing winter we seem to be having!
Slainte,
Kilchoman

| I think i will still be waiting on the Kilchoman stock coming of age and hopefully it will carry a decent price tag. |

| I wish they would do cheaper releases for whisky drinkers to get to know Kilchoman as these large limited releases with collectable price tags are unlikely to increase in value and of no interest to me, |

| I agree with drPete, 10000 bottles is not a limited release, it full production for a smaller outfit like this. When will we get to see older stock...who knows if they keep on selling off all their current prodcution. Don't know about you but whilst I like Kilchoman, it's fiery stuff compared to some of it's more mature, mellowed neighbours.. |

I am not justifying Kilchomans pricing but 10000 spread throughout all their markets worldwide isnt much but £56 for young fiery whisky is a lot.
I believe the Kilchoman capacity is just 20000 litres a year so when it does come of age and if it is highly thought of i suspect it will always have a high price tag due to its small production. I know the brand has already established a foothold in big markets like the US, Russia, Ukraine and South Korea. |

| Actually I like young Kilchomans - my last bottle is their Club Release (single cask) from November. Usually I'm not drinking young whisky but Kilchoman is making some really interesting stuff in this range. Nevertheless I will pass on Loch Gorm and other following "limited"? editions if they will continue with this price policy. |

| Typo error, I meant to post that Kilchomans capacity is just 120000 litres |

I tried the new Kilchoman Loch Gorm at the weekend. This is the latest limited release on Kilchoman's road to maturity, it is still a little young with some feinty character as you would expect at 5 years old but it is a very promising indication of the quality we can hope to see in the future. Even at this young age the well balanced Kilchoman peat and the sherry make very compatible bed fellows and I would guess that in another 5 years or so the likes of Ardbeg Uigeadail and Lagavulin Distillers Edition will have a very serious competitor for your money. I wonder how much of the the whisky produced at Kilchoman is maturing in sherry butts, a good percentage I hope.
I know Kilchoman is taking a bit of a knock for its pricing but when Kilchoman whisky does come of age in the not too distant future and if it is as popular as I think it will be a bottle of this first release of Loch Gorm just may be considered quite collectable, if not you have nothing to lose as it is a cracking young peaty sherried Islay whisky so you could just simply drink it. _________________ There's no bad whisky.
