Any thoughts on these bottles ?
I have a chance to buy the following,
Cardhu 12 year old ,bottle in fluid ounces and 70 abv.
Glenlivet 1949 geoge and jg smith.
Macphails 50th anniversary.
Ardmore 100th anniversary.
I know there are experts on here,i am not one of them,so has anyone any experience of the above and what sort of value they might be ?
Thanks to all if you can advise or comment. |

There was 2 Ardmore 100th anniversary bottlings, there was a general release Ardmore 100th anniversary 12 year old distilled in 1986 and bottled 1999 valued around £150
There was also the Ardmore 100th anniversary 21 year old distilled in 1977 and bottled 1999, this is quite rare and hard to come by. It was bottled exclusively for VIPs and guests at the distillerys centenary celebrations in 1999. Value is around £300.
Some of the online shops do try to chance their arm and sell bottles like these for much more than i quoted above (for example drinkfinder has the 12 year old listed for £408.98) but you may pick them up at auction for less as Ardmore isnt a hugely sought after distillery but there havent been many limited releases from Ardmore over the years making these collectable.
Disclamer: values are just my guesstimates, i may be way out. |

The Glenlivet went at auction for £200 (not in perfect condition) at SWA a year or so ago. and can be had at retail fpr £1k, boxed at auction maybe £800?
None of the others you mention would have me rushing to grab them unless they were a very decent price .. not sure what that is for most of the bottles, MacPhails 50 used to be about 200 retail (a few years ago now)
Sorry can't help any more _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

Russell a bottle of Cardhu 12 26 2/3 fl. ozs, 70 proof sold for £190 at Mctears auction last month which was over the estimate of £120 - £160. Being fl. ozs will make it more desirable to collectors, there is also condition of the bottle and label and the fill level to consider when it come s to value of bottles such as this. It also very much depends on the bidders at auction on the day i have seen bottles like this only fetch half this amount at auction. _________________ There's no bad whisky. William i knew about the labels, fill level and box if present . I did read someplace that bottles in fluid ounces were like "hens teeth" hence my question. The bottle in question is for sale for considerably more than the one you mention so i will not bother with it.
I may have the chance to buy some others soon so forgive me if i ask more questions. Only way to learn from my peers.
Thanks for your reply. |
