Anyone interested in the Glenlivet Alpha, the new limited edition release from the Glenlivet which has been released without any details such as age, cask type etc. The only info known about it is the strength 50% ABV. I suspect it is going to be a cracker and that is why the Glenlivet have been confident enough to release it in this way.
They will reveal everything about the whisky in June but if you want to know about it now a a Tweet Tasting is just about to start over at twitter. You can follow the tasting using the hashtag #Alpha
I am off to the tasting. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

Hi William. Your positive comments on the Forum about the Alpha make this Glenlivet expression one I will have to be on the look out for if it ever makes its way across the pond.
I checked out the twitter tasting as well. Sounds like a real winner. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| I wouldnt mind getting hold of a bottle of this, i see TWE have sold out. I wonder if it will be heading this way. A 50% abv Glenlivet which i would guess will turn out to be quite a mature age sounds very good to me. |

According to a PR piece I just read, they will not be revealing the age of the malt, due to "SWA guidelines".
Another NAS publicity stunt then. _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

If they can stop them and i had bought a bottle i would not be amused. |

| Unless it's something stupid like it's got a small amount of less than 3 year old whisky in there or something? |

It wouldn't surprise me if they could do it in a round about way like giving distillation dates. If anyone has a link would like to read the guidelines.
As for twitter tastings great fun to take part in but a not so great to watch, a lot of repetition and the odd person trying to hard to get in the next one. Also it really needs to be run by someone not connected to the distillery as sometimes people not picked can get really pissed off. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional. |
