|
|
The Laphroaig Cairdeas 2013 Port Wood Edition is now available from the Laphroaig web site shop for £47 with a maximum of three bottles per Firend of Laphroaig.
I wish the other Islay distilleries would have big enough Cairdeas releases to do this after the festival, it would cut out the speculators and make these unique bottles available to more whisky drinkers.
This is a different Laphroaig as it has been aged in a port barrel, bottled at 51.3% ABV, is non-chill filtered and is an all natural colour.
Laphroaigs tasting note:
Nose
Stewed Rhubarb, Huge peat moving into vanilla ice cream and milk chocolaty. Gentle cloves, minty and fresh... Cairdeas Port wood then becomes floral like summer roses, orange marmalade and finishes with a long, dry charcoal finish.
Palate
A lovely mouth feel and a nice balance, Cairdeas port wood has an initial honey sweetness but becomes dry quickly then creamy and floral, it shows a heavy saltiness and a great liquorice root flavour that really lasts, it then develops into a long, heavy charcoal finish mixing with orange rind flavours that really linger on the palate. _________________ There's no bad whisky. William, I'm sure I would like this Laphroaig expression and not a bad price point at all. I do enjoy port wood drams.

As with the last couple of years a few cases will make their way to specialist retailers in the USA as well. _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

Pete, I hope it makes its way to Canada, specifically Ontario.

If anyone has a bottle to sell I would be interested in buying it. Or I could swap it for last years Cairdeas which i have a spare of.
Cheers. |

| I only bought one of them and now I'm really torn on what to do. It sounds right up my street but it looks like if I enjoy this one it will be very hard to find another at a decent price. Maybe I should keep this one for a special occasion. |
