Whisky Forum - Are all "age statement" Macallans disappearing?

I know that the younger age statement Macallans (eg 10 year old) have been discontinued.

But what about the older expressions, such as the "Macallan 25 year old Sherry Oak? Are they all going too?

I believe all Macallan of 18 years plus will continue as ususal.

As i understand it everything under 18 years in the UK was replaced by thenew Macallan 1824 series Gold, Amber, Sienna and Ruby. The Macallan 18 years and over bottlings will continue as usual

AFAIK the Macallan 12, 18, 25 and 30 year are still ongoing and i havent heard otherwise

All of the fine oaks and sherry oaks below 18, but not (yet) in all global markets was the announcement when the pathetic "colours" range was paraded by a bunch of marketing-driven p*ss-takers.

I think the pertinant question here is...

Are all Macallan non age statement bottles dissapointing?

Now that i have tasted all the new no age statement colour range, opps i mean 1824 series i can honestly say i cant fault any of them for quality, having said that i doubt that the Macallan Ruby price tag is nowhere near justified, it is an superb Macallan but i do think they should state the age when they get into this price bracket, it is clearly an aged whisky but i suspect they are watering it down with younger stuff Twisted Evil

and they are probably doing the same with the other bottlings in the range, i do hope that the Macallan end up regretting this move but the market place and demand is so large now i doubt they will.

NO AGE STATEMENT WHISKY IS WELCOME BUT THE PRICE TAG SHOULD BE PROPORTIONAL TO THE AGE OF THE WHISKY IN THE BOTTLE Exclamation

drPete, i have had had a couple of bottles of the Macallan Oscuro, I agree, brilliant. I have 2 more bottles in the cabinet.
