I picked up a bottle of Tweeddale 12 Year Batch 3 at the LCBO today. I missed meeting Alasdair Day, grandson of Richard Day who produced this blend from 1899 to the beginning of WW2. Now it is back. Alasdair was visiting from Scotland and actually dropped by the LCBO for a tasting. Has anyone tried this one? I would be most interested in your evaluation. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I think I've had the batch 2 courtesy of bifter. Truthfully, and the cool kids wilds say 'meh'!
Certainly not bad but nothing that made me want to rush out and get batch 3 either. |

I can only speak of batch 2 obviously, I picked up two bottles when they were £25 in Aldi and, for the money, I reckon it's a winner! albo is not a fan of grain whisky but this is a blend with lots of character and with the grain to the fore, sherried grain at that. I'd love to try batch 3, please let us know what you think! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

I think the slightly higher percentage of malt whisky (50%) in the blend combined with the quality of whiskies in the blend is what makes this so good, and it seems to get better and older with each batch. Tweeddale batch 1, 2 and 3 have all been excellent IMO. The Tweeddale Blend batch 4 has now been released it is a 14 year old which comprises of 16 year old grain whisky and eight single malts, one of which was matured in a Islay cask which i am told has added a touch of peat to the bottling but i havent had the chance to tast it yet.
Murray, the Tweeddale Blend batch 3 which was released in March this year is a blend of 18 year old sherry cask matured grain whisky and eight single malts, aged between 12 and 21 years old. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

This is a good point to make, I really don't get on very well with grain whisky at all. I find it very one dimentional and a taste of airfix glue in every drop. Not for me which may well go some way to explaining why I don't really rate this, that said there are other blends which I find pleasent enough. |

| Just received my 2014 Whisky Bible today, in it Jim Murray says that the Tweeddale Blend batch 3 is "Very, very similar" to the batch 2 bottling and he scores it a little higher at 95. So if you liked batch 2 it sound like batch 3 wont disappoint. |
