|

Glenmorangie have recently discovered 50 bottles of the world's first wood-finished whisky hidden in a corner of one of their Highland warehouses. Distilled in 1963 and bottled in 1987, Glenmorangie have decided to re-bottle and release the 50 bottles.
This Glenmorangie 1963 expression was extra-matured in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks for almost two years, before being released in 1987 but somehow 50 bottles got forgotten about and was left in one of Glenmorangies warehouses until now.

TWE have a bottle of the original in good condition for £1200. I suppose what you pay depends on whether you are buying it to drink or collect.
The bottle does demonstrate the change in times and marketing when it comes to premium whisky, the original release was without a box which was typical for Glenmorangie back in the 1980s. |
