Hello all!
New to the forum. My name's John, I'm an American living in Darmstadt, Germany.
I've been trying different bourbons for the past year now and had not gotten into scotches so much yet until a friend, trying to give me a little push, gave me a bottle of Glen Garioch 1797 Founders Reserve. So now I'm interested...
Any tips where to start? For bourbon fans, my favorites are W.L. Weller Antique, Woodford Reserve, Four Roses Small Batch, Old Rip Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Years. |

Welcome to the Forum. The Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve is a pleasant dram. The best way to determine your taste profile is to sample drams associated with the different areas in mainland Scotland and Islands where they are distilled. The Glenfiddich, Glenlivets, Highland Park and Glenmorangies of different age expressions may be a straight forward place to start as well. The peaty drams are usually associated with the Island of Islay. My staple peaty dram is Lagavulin 16 and is a stellar dram. I don't drink much bourbon so I can't make direct segue suggestions from bourbon to scotch. Hope this helps. Cheers from Canada. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| Welcome to the forum John and the world of Scotch Malt Whisky, you will find there is a vast choice of whiskies available. Given your liking for Glen Garioch i would suggest trying whisky from Balvenie, Glenlivet, Glenmorangie, Balblair, Dalwhinnie. |

| If you are feeling adventourous then you could also try Talisker 10, Caol Ila 12 and for a big smoky single malt something from Lagavulin, Ardbeg or Laphroaig |
