Hi Folks
Please post this in the correct section if I'm in the wrong place!
Relatively new to whisky. I have a few friends that have enjoyed a good dram for years but I always refused to taste the stuff. I was on a night out this year and they convinced me to taste a few drams and I've never looked back. It was like a switch had been flicked. For years i couldn't stand the taste then all of a sudden I fell in love with it.
I'm really enjoying my whisky just now and i'm just starting to work my way through some single malts to find my favourites.
Still a newbie to whisky so don't be too harsh on me
Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Welcome to the Forum Richard. We are a friendly group here and offer help and advice to members about all things whisky and particularly single malts. I'm curious as to what single malts you have tried so far and which you enjoyed the most.

Thank you for the welcome.
Well I've tried quite a few and I've enjoyed all of them in their own way.
Laphroig 10, Glenfiddich 12, Glenlivet 12, Fettercairn Fasque, Jura Origin and a few more that are not popping into my mind at the moment. All relatively cheap whiskies I suppose but youve got to start somewhere. I also have a Glenlivet 18 and a Bruichladdich 12 second edition tucked away which I may consume in the near future.
I tasted the first edition Bruichladdich Infinity and that was the one that I thought was fantastic. Looking forward to a whisky tasting next month to explore a bit more
Also tried Talisker 57 north which was great and a few Dalmore's.

Your selection thus far sounds great Richard. A very nice introduction to the single malt world for you. Each individual with their own taste buds and palate experiences drams quite differently on occasion though the fine single malts tend to allow for shared taste profiles. Price can be one possible determinate for predicting a fine single malt but not always. From your list, I would say The 57 North is a particularly fine dram and some Dalmore's are quite excellent. Consider that The Dalmore 64 Trinitas goes for 100,000 pounds a bottle. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Thank you. Yes, I know what you mean about deep pockets. Already have my eye on a couple of bottles one of which is at auction. |

Welcome Richard, and enjoy your journey through the world of single malts. I'm sure you'll find the members on this forum friendly but happy to offer honest opinions. Don't forget to try a few blends, single grains, Irish whiskey, Bourbons, ryes, etc. Variety is the spice of life after all. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Don't listen to Bifter or Quaich, were a horrible lot in here, we'll give you some great open and honest advice which will make you spend far more money than you ever wanted!!
In all seriousness welcome to the forum, please add your thought and opinion to the debate, its always good to have new opinions in here and as the others have said its actually a rather easy going, if somewhat geeky, forum. But a great place to ask questions, seek opinion and fine out a whole lot more about everything whisky. If your really lucky you may come across one of my rants about the price of whisky |
