|
|
I'm invited to a fancy banquet in New York State tonight (North American time), 300 guests only 2 of us are from Canada. The drink menu is below. This is a better selection that one usually sees
in Canada or the USA at a restaurant/banquet centre:
Glenlivet, 12 year, Moray 10
Glenlevit, 18 year, Moray 15
Glenfiddich, 12 year, Speyside 10
Singleton, 12 year, Speyside 10
Macallan, 12 year, Speyside 12
Macallan, 18 year, Speyside 24
Macallan cask strength, 116 proof, Speyside 16
Highland park, 12 year old, Highland 10
Highland park, 18 year old, Highland 24
Glenmorangie, Quinta Ruban, Highland 12
Dalwhinnie, 15 year, Highland 15
Oban, 14 year, Highland 16
Laphroag, 10 year, Islay 10
Ardberg, 10 year, Islay 12
Lagavulin, 16 year, Islay 15
Springbank, 15 year, Islay 15
Johnnie walker collection
Red 8 Black 12 year 9
Green 15 year 12 Gold 18 year 15
Blue specially blended 30
1792 Ridgemount Reserve, Kentucky 9.5
Eagle Rare, Kentucky 9.5
Woodford Reserve, Kentucky 9.5
Bulleit Bourbon, Kentucky 9.5
Knob Creek, Kentucky 9.5
Basil Hayden, Kentucky 9.5
(ri)1 straight rye, Kentucky 12
Four roses, 110 proof, Kentucky 12
Bookers, 128 proof, Kentucky 14
Gentleman Jack, Tennessee 9.5
Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Tennessee 15
Hibiki, Japan 15
The last number after each drink is the cost in US funds per drink. I'm on my way in a few hours. What would you go for if given the opportunity in that setting. The Japanese hibiki blend
sounds interesting too. Recommendations please....As a honored guest I believe my drinks will be covered.... _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

The 12 yr, 15yr and 18 year Johnnie Walker drams in order are $9, $12 and $15 dollars per drink. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| I have had the Hibiki 12 year old which i can recommend, it is a vanilla sweet fruity whisky, not tried the no age statement Hibiki blend. |

The 12 yr, 15yr and 18 year Johnnie Walker drams in order are $9, $12 and $15 dollars per drink. | Once i thought about it after i posted, i thought i must be reading your list wrongly as $15 for those 3 JWs would be a giveaway in a restaurant.
It depends what you have and havent tried before, i usually try to go for at least one dram that is new to me given the chance. Along with the Macallan 18 i would be tempted by the Macallan cask strength. |

Just got back from the banquet. Had a great time. As it turned out, the event included an "open bar" for Dewar's blended scotch (unlimited drams) before and during the meal. Why pay for the listed single malts if the blend was offered is "at no cost"? Had 3 large drams of Dewars, more than enough for me considering there was wine offered with the meal as well. Since I wasn't driving tonight, things worked out perfectly in the end. I've had most of the single malts listed in the past at one time or another so I wasn't really missing anything. However, I may well be back there just for a 2 person dinner and it's nice to know they have a full range of single malt drams.

 | I recently tasted Dewars Signature thanks to the generosity of a friend and it was outstanding. |
