Just a quick note to let all the forum members know, that I'm in rather a good mood today, the wife and I went for her 20 week pregnancy scan for baby no 2. All looks as it should at this stage, which is excellent news. I'm frankly shocked at what they can show you these days on an ultrasound. From seeing the valves on the babys heart opening and closing with each heart beat, to the brain, to the stomach and even the length of the thigh bone. All very encouraging and heart warming. To top it all off we could also see the baby swallowing, mouth opening and throat muscles working. All from a 20 week old foetus (I think it's still techncially a foetus at this stage). The wonders of modern technology.
Anyway needless to say it's been an excellent day so far, if only all Monday mornings were this good.
I shall have something nice this evening I think.
Baby due on 25th Feb. #scared
How am I going to cope with 2!!!!! #excited |

Best wishes Alun. Certainly a time to celebrate with a quality dram. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I intend to do so this evening.
Child number 1 is staying at his grannys tonight, so the wife and I will be going out for something nice to eat and a wee celebration.

Congrats ... But roll on feb ? You won't be saying that when you get those sleepless nights, but it is great when they grow up and you get your sleep pattern back, well so I'm told, mine are only 19 and soon 18 so I'll let you know when it all settles down to normal.. Anyway enjoy your dram, hope everything goes ok for you and what I'm sure is your better half .. |

Better by some distance!
I had a Laddie Port Charlotte Street a lovely burger in the Cambridge Bar here in Edinburgh. Simple food for a simple man! |

Glad to hear all is progressing well. I know you're waiting to find out what you're getting so I hope you weren't looking too closely! _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Thanks very much for the well wishes everyone!
Bifter, you are right I'm not finding out what flavour I'm having until the big day, and no, thankfully nothing 'obvious turned up on the scan'. As detailed as it was.
I beleive the best way of telling via the scan these days is the hips, but nothing stood out for me.
My 2yo came into the room at the end of the scan so we could tell him what was going on and show him the baby on the monitor. Needless to say, I think he was struggling to process everything in his mind. There is a baby (which he knows are small things that cry a lot) in mummys tummy, which must be hard enough to process, then to be told not to look at mummy tummy but to look at a telly on the wall to see the baby. The guy doing the scan gave him a wee photo print of the scan picture which he kept a tight hold of, so that was good.
I shall await the 25th Feb is glee and trepidation. However, what will see me though, is I plan on opening my SMWS Macallan 23yo as a celebratory dram for myself once the baby is safly here. The knowledge of that will keep me right!!!!! |
