Just poured these two for a head-to-head comparison.
Compass Box The Peat Montster, 46% abv
Color-Light hay
Medium body
Neat-
Nose: Sweetish peat, soft sculpting clay, seaweed, brine, medicinal and sandy beach.
Palate: Peat, BBQ smoke, warming, black licorice and "sticky lice".
Finish: Long, spice, more intense peat build-up.
Ian MacCleod Smokehead Islay Single Malt 43%abv
LIght gold
Light to medium body
Neat
Nose: Sweet BBQ rub, refined sweet peat and spicy orange marmelade.
Palate: Peat in a fog of fruit spray, spice and warming.
Finish: Long, sea salt, billowing smoke and iodine.
***The Peat Monster I think is the winner here overall. The extra 3% abv seems to make all the difference in the world. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| A good choice for a head to head, i have compared these 2 in the past and prefered the Compass Box The Peat Montster, not much between them, i agree the extra 3% makes a difference |
